FAQs

What are your lures made from?

Hand carved lures are made from balsa. Each lure is sealed, painted, and coated in a durable resin and split rings and hooks are added. Casted lures are made by pouring a polymer resin into a unique mold designed for each lure shape. When each half is poured, weight is added, hook hangers are installed, and the bait is sealed together ready for paint.

Why are your lures so small?

Not all baits produced by Brook & Barb are small. But, when fish are highly pressured, or a bite is slow, a smaller presentation can make the difference between having an okay day of fishing and a great day of fishing. Small lures increase your odds of catching more fish. Big fish also love an easy meal that a small bait provides.

Why is such a small lure so expensive?

Because they’re worth it. These lures are meticulously designed and crafted to an extremely high standard. Each lure takes hours to handcraft. Each one is completely unique in design or finish. Every lure is hand tuned and tested to ensure the ultimate performance when you decide to use it.

Do your lures have a warranty?

Lures are guaranteed to function properly when they arrive to you. Fishing lures often take a beating when bouncing off rocks, limbs, and being bit by fish. Heavy use always puts the lure at risk of becoming damaged over time. If you want to keep your lure in pristine condition, do not fish with it.

Why are the balsa lures more expensive?

Balsa lures are more time consuming to make compared to casted polymer lures. The same amount of detail is given to both as far as finish and function. Some anglers prefer a traditional balsa lure over a more modern polymer lure. Both will catch tons of fish.
