BFS, or bait finesse system, is a method of fishing in which the angler uses ultralight tackle on baitcasting rod and reels. Using a BFS baitcaster and ultralight rod allows the angler to maximize efficiency when fishing in tight quarters and around heavy cover. Unique casting styles can be employed to target fish in hard to reach areas that spinning reels can’t practically reach. Flick lures under docks overhanging limbs, snow banks, and rock ledges to get your bait into the strike zone. With more control of the spool, baitcasters allow the angler to taper off trajectory and spook less fish when the lure enters the water.
